Dr who tenth doctor quotes The Sontaran Stratagem

General Staal: General Staal of the Tenth Sontaran battle fleet. "Staal The Undefeated!"
Doctor: Oh that's no good. What if you get defeated? "Staal The Not-Quite-So-Undefeated-Any-More-But-Never-Mind?"
Donna: You used to work for them?
The Doctor: Yeah, back in the seventies. Or was it the eighties?
Luke Rattigan: 52 deaths in a single second, man, that is so cool!
General Staal: Is the temperature significant?
The Doctor: Ross, just one question: If UNIT think that ATMOS is dodgy...
Ross: How come we've got it in the jeeps? Tell me about it. They're fitted as standard on all government vehicles. Can't get rid of them until we prove something's wrong. Drives me around the bend.
The Doctor: Oh, nice one!
Ross: Timed that perfectly!
The Doctor: Oh, now... that's clever! Look! Single-molecule fabric. How thin is that?! You could pack a tent in a thimble. Oh, Gravity simulators! Terraforming! Biospheres! Mano-tech steel construction! Ha-ha, this is brilliant! But y'know with equipment like this, you could, oh, I dunno... move to another planet or something.
Luke: If only that was possible.
The Doctor: If only that were possible. Conditional clause.
The Doctor: ATMOS means more people driving, more cars, more petrol, end result: the oil's gonna run out faster than ever. The ATMOS system could make things worse.
Luke: Yeah, well, that's a tautology. You can't say "ATMOS System", 'cause it stands for Atmospheric Emission System. So you're saying "Atmospheric Emission System System". Do you see, Mr Conditional Clause?
The Doctor: It's been a long time since anyone said "no" to you...
General Staal: We have an intruder!
Doctor: How'd he get in? In-tru-da window?

Return of the Sontarans

The Sontarans are to make their debut in a Big Finish Doctor Who audio production in 2011. Executive producer Nicholas Briggs has revealed that the squat clone soldiers, which first appeared in the 1974 TV story The Time Warrior, will do battle with the Fifth Doctor next April.

“It’s strange to think that, in over 140 monthly Doctor Who plays, we’ve never featured the Sontarans,” Briggs told DWM. “However, Alan Barnes has written a storming story for them, and Steven Moffat was kind enough to give his blessing for us to use them.

“These are definitely the Sontarans of old, dressed in their black armour, and from the same brood hatching as Commander Linx. Of course, casting the Sontarans is going to be an interesting challenge – they’re a monster with a very specific voice quality, and I’m very keen we get actors who can capture the stark military mindset.”

The Sontarans featured in four stories during the classic TV series: the aforementioned The Time Warrior, The Sontaran Experiment, The Invasion of Time and The Two Doctors. This as-yet-untitled adventure will be the first time that the Fifth Doctor has confronted them – although his companion Tegan met them alongside the Sixth Doctor and young Gareth Jenkins in the Jim’ll Fix It skit A Fix With Sontarans. “Yes, it’s unlikely that we’ll go there,” laughs Briggs.
