2011 Episode Update

Steven Moffat has announced changes to the episode order for the 2011 series of Doctor Who.

Speaking to Doctor Who Magazine, the executive producer revealed he has shuffled the running order of the series with the Mark Gatiss penned story moving into the second half of the season, due in the Autumn.

The story was originally scheduled to run in the first part of the series due in the spring. The empty slot will now be filled by an episode written by Steve Thompson. Although new to Doctor Who, Thompson is an established writer who is best known for his work with Moffat as the author of the second Sherlock episode, The Blind Banker. He won the Arts Council's Meyer-Whitworth Award for new writing for his first play, Damages, in 2004.

Thompson's script will run as the third episode in the series, with the long awaited Neil Gaiman script moving into position four.

Moffat told the magazine the changes are purely to balance out the look of the series and to combat worries in the production team that there was "not enough outside" in the first half of the series.

Dr who - series 6 - The Sound of Dolls/Clones/Silence?

Two young actresses,Fern Deacon and Frances Encell are now listed as appearing in Doctor Who. Frances Encell's CV says she is performing a Voice over, and after a quick search I discovered Fern Deacon's fan site which confirms she's also doing voice over work.

Could these young actresses be appearing in Episode Seven, which has just begun filming?

Since they are both with the same acting agency it’s also possible that they’re appearing in an earlier episode and their CV’s have only just been updated.

Might they be providing the voices for the clones in Matthew Graham’s two-parter, The Rebel Flesh and Gangers? Could they be giving a voice to the creepy dolls in Mark Gatiss’ episode What Are Little Boys Made Of? Or even more tantalising perhaps they’re giving voice to the Silents in Moffat’s opening two-parter.

Davies: 'New Torchwood not a reboot'

Torchwood creator Russell T. Davies has insisted that the show's fourth series is not a reboot.

The new ten-part run, subtitled Miracle Day, will air on BBC One in the UK and Starz in the US.

"It's been off air for a couple of years and actually that shows on-screen," Davies told AOL Television. "But importantly for fans, there's not a glitch. It's literally the same show."

However, the writer admitted that he is keen to attract new viewers to the show.

"With a new channel and a new start, it could be brand new for you," he said. "There are new characters... who know nothing about Torchwood. They're like the new... audience. [New viewers] can all come and join in. Part of the legend of the first episode is digging up the mystery of Torchwood."

He also revealed that the final episode of previous mini-series Children of Earth was intended as a possible series finale.

"Children of Earth sort of ended in disaster, death and tragedy and that could have been the end," he explained. "We literally thought if that [series] hadn't worked, we'd be sitting here mourning and still crying [at] something [that] had been killed in its prime. It was a nice, decent ending if it needed to be, [but] thank God, it's come back."

Ianto: Jack? Your V.I.P guest is here.
Gwen: I didn't know we were expecting anyone.
Jack: On a dark night in Cardiff, I hear the song of a nightingale.
Martha: Jack's right. These attacks are not random. They're clinical, professional. More like assassinations.
Gwen: Except Barry Leonard was a student. Who'd assassinate a student?
Martha: Student loans company?
Gwen: Yeah, I think you just cracked it.
Martha: So, Jack asked me if I could get you a UNIT cap to wear.
Ianto: Did he? Well, red is my colour.
Martha: So, am I right in thinking that you and he...
Ianto: We... dabble.
Martha: Yeah?
Ianto: Yeah.
Martha: So what's his "dabbling" like?
Ianto: Innovative.
Martha: Really!
Ianto: Bordering on the avant-garde.
Martha: Wow.
Ianto: Oh yeah.
Tosh: Ianto, what have you done with Billy Davis's body?
Ianto: Um, I was just about to dispose of it, why?
Tosh: I thought of a way we can use him to get us into the Pharm. Clever, huh?
Ianto: Oh, you are warped on the inside. How do you think of these things?
Tosh: I'll take that as a compliment.
Gwen: Oh, um, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I get a bit confused, which one's UNIT?
Jack: Intelligence. Millitary. Cute red caps. Acceptable face of intelligence gathering on aliens. We're more ad hoc, but better looking.
Jack: "Tosh, any luck with retrieving those medical records?
Tosh: Not yet. I'm going to have to dig down into the system memory and see if I can find any remnants of deleted or temporary files. Completely illegal, of course

Torchwood - Lauren Ambrose joins Miracle day

Six Feet Under star Lauren Ambrose is joining Starz’ highly-anticipated global edition of Torchwood.

Ambrose will appear in seven of the 10 episodes of the drama’s upcoming season, playing Jilly Kitzinger — “a sweet-talking PR genius with a heart of stone who’s just cornered the most important client of her career … and maybe of all time.”

Production on Torchwood: Miracle Day started Monday, and follows the show making waves last week at TCA press tour when showrunner Russell T. Davies revealed the season’s mind-bending plot:

“One day, on Earth, no one dies,” Davies said. “The next day, no one dies. The day after that, no one dies. The [people who are] dying, keep dying … but don’t actually die. The possibility of death ceases to exist. Which is great for some people. But it’s an instant overnight population boom. The earth relies on people dying.”
