Lauren albrose in torchwood Miracle Day

Lauren albrose

Entertainment Weekly has reported that Lauren Ambrose has been cast in the role of Jilly Kitzinger in Torchwood: Miracle Day. Ambrose is best known for her role as the sullen Claire Fisher in the HBO drama Six Feet Under. EW describes her Torchwood character as "a sweet-talking PR genius with a heart of stone who’s just cornered the most important client of her career … and maybe of all time."

Ambrose joins Torchwood stars John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Kai Owen, as well as previously announced actors Mekhi Phifer as CIA analyst Rex Matheson, Alexa Havins as field agent Esther Drummond, Bill Pullman as convicted murderer Oswald Danes, and Arlene Tur as Dr. Vera Juarez. Dichen Lachman has also been reported as having a role in the series, but her casting has not been confirmed by official sources.

Torchwood: Miracle Day is currently filming in Los Angeles, and will air on BBC1 and Starz beginning in July.

Tom Baker brands fellow Doctor Who Jon Pertwee an "insufferable know-all"

TOM Baker has branded his Doctor Who predecessor Jon Pertwee a tight-fisted, “insufferable know-all”.

Liverpool-born Baker, who took over the Tardis from 1974 to 1981, also made an off-colour joke that he triggered the heart attack which killed Pertwee in 1996.

Baker, 76, said: “Jon Pertwee was an insufferable know-all… Jon found it physically impossible to buy a drink.”

He added: “He liked the idea of big sums of money for voiceovers, so I would say in Jon’s earshot that someone had offered me £15,000 for a voiceover, but I turned it down because it was going to take a whole hour.

“This wasn’t true, but I could hear Jon’s heart pounding. In fact, he died of a heart attack shortly after that. I think that’s why.”

Baker also told Dr Who Magazine how he failed to persuade the BBC to let him snog his female co-stars, or to have a “talking frog or badger” assist the Time Lord.

11 Ways to Live Like Doctor Who

Torchwood quotes Dead Man Walking

Ianto: I have searched for the phrase "I shall walk the Earth and my hunger shall know no bounds," but I keep getting redirected to Weight Watchers!
Owen: There was a light, a tiny speck of light and I was rushing towards it, like down a corridor, and it got brighter, and brighter, then suddenly there were these gates... these big, pearly gates and there was this old geezer and he said, "You've been a very naughty boy!"
Jack: Only in suffering do we realize beauty.
Owen: Yeah, yeah. Who said that?
Jack: Proust.
Owen: You've read Proust?
Jack: Yeah. Well, no. We dated for a while. He was really immature.
Owen: Jamie, you're scared, of course you are, the last lot of chemo didn't work and you can't bear the thought of going through all that pain again, I understand that mate, I really do. But let me tell you, that not everyone dies from this disease. And the ones with the best chance of making it are the ones who believe they can beat death. And sometimes, just sometimes, you can. So watch and learn, Jamie Burton.
Jamie: Watch what?
Owen: Watch me beat Death.
Tosh:  Come on!
Owen: Okay, go, come on, Jamie, take him!
Tosh: Owen? I am not leaving you to face that thing on your own!
Owen: I know what to do.
Tosh: We don't know what we're dealing with!
Owen: Tosh... you're so going to hate me for this.
Tosh: Owen, no, open the door! What the hell are you doing? Owen!
Owen: How long!? How long can you last here with only twelve victims? There's nothing here for you! Owen Harper's soul has left the building! There's nobody here but us dead men. What else have you got? What else do you do to the dead? Is that all you've got? Is it?!?

Doctor who series 6 - Cybermen for Episode Seven?

In response to a mention that Steven Moffat had confirmed on Twitter that Episode Seven had begun shooting this poster hinted that redesigned Cybermen might have some role in the episode.

The poster later responds positively to the suggestion that the new-series Cybermen might be foot soldiers of an old-series officer class of Cybermen and that they will be scary, they won’t say “delete” or “upgrade” and they may look different.

There has already been some speculation over the return of the Cybermen in this series with one poster suggesting that the Doctor Who Art Department have been working on Mummified Cybermen styled on the “classic” era costumes.

This led to speculation that they might feature in a story rumoured to be set in 1920’s Egypt dealing with Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter’s excavation of the Tomb of Tutankhamun.

Another possibility (and bare with me here) might be that Steve Thompson's episode is set in Egypt and reintroduces the Cybermen, but Moffat decided to use the reintroduced Cybermen in Episode Seven which necessitated Thompson's episode being aired before Episode Seven, hence it was moved to Episode Three… phew!

Of course all of this is based on a Jenga-like tower of spoilers and speculation being true. But if either of these episodes are set in Egypt we might expect to see a fair bit of location shooting in a quarry (doubling for the Valley of the Kings) later this month or early next month.

Who's the Daddy - David tennant and Georgia moffett expecting

DOCTOR Who star David Tennant is to be a daddy, The Sun can reveal.

The tenth Time Lord's partner Georgia Moffett, daughter of fifth Doctor Peter Davison, is due to give birth in the spring.

David, 39, and actress Georgia, 26 - who made a brief appearance in the series in 2008 - have kept the pregnancy secret from all but those closest to them.

But Georgia's baby bump was visible as the couple, who plan to wed next year, strolled in London yesterday.

A source close to them said: "David is thrilled, though slightly worried having a baby with Georgia will break the space time continuum because of their Doctor Who connections."

The baby will be a sibling for Georgia's son Tyler, eight, and David's first child.

The source said: "David gets along brilliantly with Tyler and can't wait for the baby."
