Dr who advent calender Day Nine: Snowfall

It's Christmas Eve and David Kershaw somehow finds himself in an abandoned railway station. Or at least he think it's abandoned... He's about to confront a face from his past, learn about alien dangers and maybe even discover the true meaning of Christmas. And if he's lucky, a girl with long red hair and a Scottish accent might even give him a mug of tea on the house...

For the past few years we've celebrated the holiday season with new, original short stories featuring the Doctor at Christmas. This December we wanted to do something slightly different, and although we've got some festive tales heading your way, they're linked. Frozen is the first part of our Snowfall stories and leads directly into a tale featuring the Doctor, old friends and a new menace to humanity!

The Doctor, Rose and Mickey arrive on a spaceship in the far future and find that the Clockwork Droids who run the ship are fixated on Madame de Pompadour, a girl from the 18th century and have been opening up time windows so they can interact with her. The Doctor travels back to France through the time windows to save her, falling in love during the process.

Does the Doctor jump the shark at Christmas?

After numerous rumours spawned by these set photo’s by Alun Vega of a flying shark featuring in The Christmas Special this reliable poster has revealed that apparently The Christmas Special does indeed feature an absconding shark and there was an actual shark on set for some of the filming.

Doctor Who will be cloned by aliens in Christmas Special

Doctor Who’s Time Lord will be cloned by aliens in a dramatic episode of the sci-fi drama next year.

An army of monsters from outer space will make a carbon copy of the handsome doctor – who is played by Matt Smith – as they invade Earth.

However, the Time Lord will only discover the clone when he comes face to face with himself as he investigates the alien invasion, and tries to foil the extra-terrestrial beings’ plans to take over the world.

His companions Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) also become confused when they can’t work out which is the real doctor and which is his double, and who they should be taking instructions from.

The hit BBC One series returns in the spring after its special Christmas Day (25.12.10) episode, which will be based on ‘A Christmas Carol’ with an alien twist.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Dr who tenth doctor quotes the end of time part 2

Wilfred: But you said, you were told "He will knock four times" and then you die. Well, that's him, isn't it? The Master. That noise in his head? The Master is going to kill you...

The Doctor: Yeah...

Wilfred: ...then kill him first.

The Doctor: And that's how the Master started. It's not that I'm an innocent. I've taken lives. I got worse, I got clever. Manipulated people into taking their own. Sometimes, I think a Time Lord lives too long...

Rassilon: Now the High Council of Time Lords must vote whether we die here today, or return to the waking world and complete the Ultimate Sanction. For this is the hour when either Gallifrey falls, or Gallifrey rises!

Time Lords: GALLIFREY RISES!

Rassilon: Gallifrey rises!

Rassilon: The approach begins.

The Master: Approach of what!?

The Doctor: Something is returning, don't you ever listen!? That was the prophecy: not someone, something!

The Master: What is it!?

The Doctor: They're not just bringing back the species... it's Gallifrey! Right here, right now!

The Master: But, this is fantastic, isn't it? The Time Lords restored!

The Doctor: You weren't there, in the final days of the War. You never saw what was born. But if the Time Lock's broken, then everything's coming through! Not just the Daleks, but the Skaro Degradations, the Horde of Travesties, the Nightmare Child, the Could-Have-Been-King with his army of Meanwhiles and Never-weres;the War turned into Hell! And that's what you've opened right above the Earth! Hell is descending!

The Master:My kind of world.

The Doctor: Just listen, cos even the Time Lords can't survive that!

Rassilon: We will initiate the Final Sanction. The End of Time will come at my hand. The rupture will continue until it rips the Time Vortex apart!

The Master: That's suicide!
