Doctor Who | Classic Episode: Arc of Infinity | Unreleased Music | Episode 2

SFX - Doctor Who “A Good Man Goes To War” Spoiler-Free Preview (Spoilers)

1 It is amazing – a true five-star episode

2 There are lots of spaceships – and that’s just in the teaser

3 There is a very Star Wars feel (The Empire Strikes Back especially) even down to the shape of the windows and the music

4 It’s action-packed and feels so much more epic than a usual single parter

5 There are lots of suprise guests stars (and some will be a surprise) but unlike in “The Pandorica Opens” none of them feels wasted – they all have a chance to shine…

6 …Apart from one maybe

7 It cracks along at a hell of a pace

8 There are some revelations that really will make your jaw drop

9 There is a terrific battle scene at the end (which more than makes up for a slightly underwhelming and confusingly directed one in the first half)

10 Although there’s lots of time travelling, it’s not a timey-whimey-reliant plot.

11 The Doctor produces something very revealing from the TARDIS

12 Rory says something very funny to an old enemy that you can’t believe has never been said before

13 It’s a great episode for both Rory and Amy (and Matt Smith is as brilliant as ever, especially in a sudden, unexpected emotional moment)

14 A throwaway line from last season becomes a major plot device

15 Somebody is asked to make a donation

16 Somebody very unexpected is playing doctors and nurses

17 We get to see somebody’s muff

18 Rory is definitely cool

19 Look carefully at the monitor screens…

20 …And the corridors

21 And please, please, please, if anyone has leaked the title for the next episode onto the internet, avoid the temptation to check it out. When the caption comes up at the end, “The Doctor Will Be Back In…” it was so unexpected and made us grin so much, we’d hate you to miss having the same experience…

Doctor Who: The Jade Pyramid out today

Matt Smith reads this exclusive audio story featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond. Intercepting a distress call, the TARDIS is drawn to a Shinto shrine in medieval Japan, where the Doctor and Amy are met by village elder Shijo Sada. He explains that the ogre-like mannequins surrounding the holy site are harmless guardians, called Otoroshi. At the heart of the temple is an ancient jade pyramid, so sacred that only the monks may look at it. But the Shogun, the ruler of Japan, wants to possess the pyramid and has ordered seven samurai and a band of soldiers to come to Kokan and seize it. Whilst the Doctor is tracked by a ninja assassin, Amy discovers what happens to trespassers at the shrine. Soon the secrets of the jade pyramid - and the towering Otoroshi - will be known...Written specially for audio by Martin Day, "The Jade Pyramid" is read by Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor in the acclaimed hit series from BBC Television.

Doctor Who Introducing A Good Man Goes To War

Doctor Who and Philosophy (Popular Culture and Philosophy)

Famous throughout the world, the "Doctor Who" series is the longest-running sci-fi TV show in history. Now it's making its U.S. transition from dedicated cult following to mass viewership, with the new series starring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor breaking all records. In "Doctor Who and Philosophy", a team of mostly human philosophers (who are also fans) looks at the deeper issues raised by the Doctor's mind-blowing adventures. Among the topics covered are the Doctor's philosophy of science, the ethics of a universe with millions of intelligent species, what makes one life-form more important than another, whether time travellers can change history, and how the "Doctor Who" TV show is changing the world we live in. The chapters draw freely on both the classic series (1963-1989) and the new series.

Doctor Who Action Figure Collectors Set: The Time Warrior

Journalist Sarah Jane Smith covertly gains access to a research centre where top scientists are being held in protective custody whilst UNIT investigates the disappearance of a number of their colleagues. The missing scientists have been kidnapped by a Sontaran, Linx, and taken back to medieval England, where they are working under hypnosis to repair his crashed spaceship.

The Third Doctor follows in the TARDIS, and Sarah Jane stows away. In return for shelter, Linx has provided a robber baron called Irongron with anachronistically advanced weapons to use in attacks on neighbouring castles.

The Doctor helps Sir Edward of Wessex to repel one such attack, then he and Sarah Jane conspire to drug the food in Irongron's kitchens so that the weapons can be removed while the men are unconscious. Aided by one of the kidnapped scientists, Rubeish, he then sends the others back to the 20th Century using Linx's primitive time travel equipment.

Linx shoots Irongron down and gets ready to leave in his repaired ship. Hal, one of Sir Edward's archers, fires an arrow into the vulnerable probic vent at the back of his neck, killing him. The Doctor, Sarah Jane and Hal escape just before the ship explodes, destroying the castle.

In this exclusive set we present the Classic Sontaran: Commander Linx and his iconic Sontaran space ship along with the Third Doctor in Green Jacket and Sonic Screwdriver.
