The Doctor gets his pseudonym of John Smith from Jamie McCrimmon, a companion of the second doctor, who sees it as a brand name on a medical container!

Here is some Doctor Who Dubai news;
The Doctor Who Crew flew World Traveller (economy), the cast were Club World (business).
Cobbled together from information from Sunjunky; They are outside Dubai off the Al Ain Road, but its hard to explain exactly were, as there is no town/landmarks, I've not seen the bus, but have found their camp! A guy there told me they were filming 20 minutes further in over the dunes. As we sat in the jeep debating whether to try finding them, a few jeeps where headed back our way. We recognised no-one, until a tall chap wearing a black t-shirt, cap and shades walked into view - David Tennant! I was just about to let the kids out of our jeep to say hi, but he got back into a jeep along with Michelle Ryan (who wore a straw cowboy style hat) and a few others and they headed back towards the main road. Everyone looked so pale! I did follow but they parked up on the main road, so as I'm no stalker I didn't hang around. I will certainly go back over the next couple of days. There was a lot of blowing sand, so I didn't take any pictures this time.
They should fly back on either Friday or Saturday, probably British Airways again.

Matt Smith Cloned

Eleventh Doctor Who star Matt Smith is reported to be starring alongside former Bond girl Eva Green (Casino Royale) in a new futuristic drama film Womb, under Hungarian director Benedek Fliegauf.

Womb is Fliegauf's first English language movie and concerns the subject of genetic manipulation and how it might be used to overcome death. Green portrays a grieving widow who decides to clone her late husband.

Production on the film is scheduled to start in March in European locations on the North Sea coast.

Dubai Planet Of The Dead News!

I understand that the Doctor Who team flew out to Dubai today on British Airways flight BA 107!
According to the garage that has been involved with the damaged bus, tomorrow is the start of three days filming in Dubai (11th-13th February), if any photographs/videos arrive, I will of course have them on here!
Other information about is that all UK location filming for Planet Of The Dead is now complete (leaving planet Earth on the bus, then returning), so its all just UK studio filming now!

Doctor Who The Rising Night

BBC Audiobooks have recently released some information about a new upcoming Doctor Who audio adventure that will be released later this year. The audiobook will be titled 'The Rising Night' and the story itself will be be written by Scott Handcock. It will feature the 10th Doctor and the story's official synopsis can be viewed below;
The story of a brand new adventure for the Doctor, as played by David Tennant in the hit BBC One series. The TARDIS arrives in an 18th Century village in the Yorkshire Moors, where livestock has been vanishing from the farmland and strange lights have been seen in the skies. Something is very wrong here, and he soon becomes involved in a nightmarish adventure, in which he is helped by a young local woman named Charity. Who is feeding on the blood of the locals, and where will the carnage stop...?
The Rising Night will be released on the second of July and go on sale at an RRP of £9.77. At the moment, it is unknown who will be narrating the story but if it's to go by the past audio adventures; Pest Control, The Forever Trap and The Nemonite Invasion, it will be read by one of the show's main cast members. More information, including an image of the cover, will be posted as and when it becomes available. Will you be buying this when it's released?
