Stephen Fry also expressed an interest in writing an episode of the new series of Doctor Who , starring Matt Smith.

"I look forward so much to seeing Matt Smith and I'm sure he's going to be wonderful. If I get time it'll be a thrill, I can't think of anything nicer."

Fry had been in talks with the BBC about writing a David Tennant story in 2005, but the project never materialised.

"The window passed, and I never really got round to it," said Fry. "But I'm very happy to have had the experience of thinking about it."

In Doctor Who The End Of Time, a stand-in plays US President Barack Obama and audio from a speech of his was dubbed in. This is the first time in the revived series that the real-world US president has coincided with that featured in the Whoniverse!
