Lights on: Christmas comes to Cardiff

Tomorrow the Christmas market will also open, this year located in the newly spruced up Castle Quarter. Organised by Maxine Hird and Jane Hall, who run Craftfolk and have had a presence in the city for 16 years, the market will see more than 40 stalls open up along High Street, St John's Street and Working Street.

Nigel Howells, executive member for sport, leisure and culture, said:

"The Christmas Lights Switch On has become the traditional start of the festive season in Cardiff, and this year, to celebrate the tenth Winter Wonderland, we welcome another two stellar names from BBC Cymru Wales's Doctor Who, which has such a strong connection with the city, to help us launch the lights, shopping and attractions that make up Cardiff, the Christmas City."
