DOCTOR WHO - 2009 SPECIALS FILMING

SPOILERS AHEAD

Lovely report from the almighty Scooty on the Doctor Who Forum about today's filming for the two part Christmas/New Year special.
"Right, well this morning all the filming was inside with Sylvia, Donna and Wilf, this continued for two scenes after lunch. Then the crew moved outside to film a scene on a minibus - Sparrow Lane day outs for the over 50's. Then June Whitfield turned up! The minibus then does 4 laps of the area filming a scene with Bernard and June onboard before arriving back at the house. Then they moved further down the street to film a scene where Wilf hails down the minibus, does a little dance as it stops then jumps on board. The dance that Wilf does was hilarious, some kind of moonwalk! I love that man!"

Indeed, the Cribbins was sporting his Xmas antlers, a la Turn Left and the speculation is that this takes place before the events of the previous day's filming where Wilf boards the TARDIS to the chagrin of both Sylvia and Donna.

A fellow observer, mosthauntedjp also gives us this run down of the filming inside Donna's house.
"We heard Catherine Tate shouting "I'm scared, I'm Scared" in a typical Donna fashion. We heard her scream/shout. All filmed inside in the morning. Whole street was decorated like Christmas, blow up Santa and lights."
Filming continues through to May and includes a night shoot over April 17th/18th.

Special # 2 in November?

image

Following Russell T Davies' appearance on BBC Breakfast news on Wednesday, some interesting possibilities have come to light...

The first of these is the confirmation of the return of an actor with a hugely impressive reputation among Doctor Who fans.

It is of course the return of Bernard Cribbins as Donna's grandfather Wilf Mott in the Christmas special - acting effectively as the Doctor's companion for the story!

Of futher interest however is the fact that the Doctor/Wilf episode is described as a Christmas Special - leaving the recently filmed adventure starring David Tennant alongside Lindsay Duncan for a possible broadcast "Novemberish".

Meanwhile one of the UK's endless supply of TV listings magazines - Total TV Guide - reckons that the Tennant/Duncan special is called "The Waters of Mars".

Doctor Who Filming, 07.04.09

Woop! More filming at the Nobles house today :)

It was ongoing, but it seems to have finished now (or they're filming inside)

The first scene filmed was the Doctor, Wilf and Sylvia leaving out of the back of the house. Presumably just before they get into the TARDIS.

Lots of extras then turned up and a scene was filmed with them running around in panic, screaming, while Sylvia looks up into the sky. Someone yells "Donna!" Apparently this may be scene 139

In another scene there was a big close up on Sylvia. The camera pans down and she's looking half-happy, half-tearful. The extras in the background are now hugging. This may be scene 147

And finally there was a scene with Sylvia and an unknown black guy (not Joshua from last week) are standing in the middle of the road and looking up to the upstairs windows of the house.

Three Day Filming At Donna Nobles House Starts Today

Filming at Nant-Fawr $Road starts today, and lasts until Wednesday.

Here is the schedule;

Mon 6 April (10am- 9pm) inside and outside.

Tues 7 April (9am-9pm) inside and outside.

Wed 8 April (8am -7pm) inside and outside.

What can we expect? I know set photographers are going there, so we can expect photographs! Personally I expect to see David Tennant, Bernard Cribbins, Catherine Tate (if she is in the story), Jacqueline King (ditto), and maybe others too!
David Tennant is a guest on Jo Whileys show on Wednesday, it runs from 10-1, so he may not be on set until mid afternoon (unless its recorded)!
