Scots star Kelly MacDonald set to shine as stand-in bride opposite David Tennant

KELLY MACDONALD will be the envy of millions of women in new movie The Decoy Bride - she gets to run off with David Tennant.

The former Trainspotting star plays a girl from the fictional Scots island of Hegg who gets caught up in the drama when a Hollywood starlet chooses to have her wedding there.

Glamorous actress Lara Tyler, played by Trevor Eve's daughter Alice, hires Kelly's character, Katie, as stand-in to keep the paparazzi off her trail.

But Katie soon catches the eye of groom James Aubrey, played by hunky former Dr Who David.

The Decoy Bride was partly shot in Scotland this summer, with locations including castles in Dumfriess-shire and the coast around Inveraray, Argyll.

And film agency Scottish Screen have backed the project with £300,000, the biggest grant they can award for a feature film.

Producer Douglas Rae said: "It is a homage to Local Hero, which after 30 years has never been rivalled as a Scottish film comedy hit.

"It's inspired by big Hollywood-style weddings in Scotland, like Madonna's."
